An outbreak that started in August 2006 in Navarra has affected more than 800 individuals. New cases are still being reported, between 70-100 a week. An immunisation campaign targetting 18-20-year-olds is being considered and may begin in 7-8 days.
Advice for travellers
It should be confirmed that children have received their recommended doses at 12-15 months of age and again pre-school around 4 -5 years, while unimmunised adults who have not had the diseases themselves may consider vaccination if thought to be at risk.
